Contestants get ready at the start line with their power tool racing machines in the Power Tool Drag Races in San Francisco on June 13, 2004. For the third consecutive year, mechanic enthusiasts gathered in a San Francisco junkyard with their modified power tool machines to race side-by-side down a 75-foot wooden track. Most machines, attached to electrical cords, were based on common power tools such as circular saws, grinders, drills and belt sanders fitted with wheels. While most contestants competed for fun and for the underground type atmosphere, some hoped to win the $1,000 final grand prize.
