What inspired you to make this project or participate?
Our library was inspired to create this project after tackling the issue of how to provide maker programs with limited space. With a library of only about 5,000 square feet, it was difficult to provide accessibility to materials or to find a designated space for items. The concept that we first developed was to put the makerspace on wheels to be able to move easily in and out of storage. This opened up the discussion for having a shared makerspace that could go to schools to provide exponential increase in accessibility. Through our grant, we have provided this project to our community and we wish to collaborate with educators on how this model could be transferred to their organization and also gain ideas from others experiences.
